Question 105. What are the sins forbidden in the first commandment?

Answer. The sins forbidden in the first commandment are these: Atheism, which is denying or not serving God; idolatry, which is having other gods instead of the true God, or serving or worshipping more than one God; omitting or neglecting anything that is due to God, which this commandment requires; knowing, forgetting, misunderstanding, or having wrong opinions about him; thinking of him with an unworthy malice; and curiously and inquisitively inquiring into his secrets; all blasphemy, hating God, loving oneself, and being self-centered, and excessively and intemperately applying our intellect, affections, and righteousness to anything else; and turning our intellect, affections, and righteousness away from God, wholly or partly; vain credulity, infidelity, heresy, false religion, doubt, despair, and stubbornness. Insensibility and hardness of heart, pride, presumption, carnal inattention, tempting God, using unlawful means, and relying on unlawful means; giving in to fleshly pleasures and pleasures; corrupt, blind, and indiscriminate zeal; lukewarmness, deadness, alienation, and apostasy in the things of God; praying to saints, or angels, or any other creature, or offering religious worship; consulting with the devil, and giving ear to his suggestions; making men the lords of our faith and conscience; slighting and despising God and his commands; resisting and grieving the Spirit of God, discontenting and impatient with his providence, and foolishly blaming him for the calamities he has given us; and giving praise for any good which we are, or have, or can do, to fortune, idols, ourselves, or any other creature.

John 16:9 "And of sin, because they do not believe in Me." When believers say that they believe in God, but do not believe the words of God's Son, it is a sin before God, because they believe in another god.

Jesus received the authority to forgive sins and the authority to judge from God. Therefore, we must believe everything Jesus says, but there are many believers who do not believe. If you do not believe the words Jesus said, you are believing in another God, and this is sin.

Romans 6:6-7, "For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin." The Bible says that a person who dies is completely free from sin. Therefore, baptism means death. It is the death of the old self that leads to the glory of resurrection.

In John 3:5, Jesus answered, Very truly I tell you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. The first death is death to sin at the water judgment. The problem of sin is solved. The second death is baptism by fire. Therefore, the saints also die from the old self that was revealed from the flesh. Therefore, they become those who are born from heaven by the power of the Holy Spirit. This is the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

This is testified in 1 John 5:7-8: "For there are three that bear witness, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood; and these three are one." The water is water baptism, and the Spirit is fire baptism and the baptism of the Spirit. The blood signifies the death of Jesus Christ. All of these are words that testify to the death of Jesus Christ and those who have entered into Christ.

A saint is someone whose old self dies and becomes a new person, and the death of the old self means that ones identity has changed. A saint is someone who lives as a new person, not an old person. The kingdom of God is established in the soul. So the temple is established in the heart, and Jesus enters that temple and becomes the master. However, the old person remains. As long as the body exists, the old person torments the new person. That is why they fight a spiritual war. God tells us to focus our hearts, stay awake, and always focus on the temple and pray in the Most Holy Place.

And God tells us through the Bible not to worry about the problem of sin. In Romans 8:1-2, it says, "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life has set you free from the law of sin and death." The reason is that saints must preach the gospel, but there may be cases where they stumble due to their weak flesh, and God embraces this.

However, there are those who return to the law despite having come to the gospel. They are called legalists. Legalists say they believe in Jesus, but they are like Judaizers who argue that keeping the law is helpful. Representative examples of legalism include keeping the holidays, keeping the Sabbath (keeping the Sabbath), paying tithes, repenting daily and being forgiven by the blood of Jesus, deceiving people by calling church buildings temples, and demanding money.

In addition, humanism is prevalent. There are those who believe in God and those who try to obtain worldly blessings, and there are pastors. Gnosticism is about those who say that the image of God can be improved through hard work. And they deceive people into thinking that they must live a holy life to become like God. They must become one with God, not like God. There is no other way to become one with God than to die with Jesus.
