Question 119. What are the sins forbidden in the fourth commandment?

Answer. The sins forbidden in the fourth commandment are, the omission of any of the duties required, and the careless, negligent, and unprofitable performance of them; the wearying and vexing of the Sabbath day, the idleness, or the doing of any sinful work; and the profaning of that day by unnecessary works, words, or thoughts, about worldly employments and recreations.

Since Jesus came to the world, died on the cross according to the law, and was resurrected, those who are in Christ have achieved rest. This is because Jesus is the Lord of rest. If believers believe that they must strictly observe the Sabbath even though Jesus said this, they do not believe the words of Jesus. This is a sin, and it is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

Jesus gave freedom from sin to those who come into Christ, but most believers do not believe this. They always think that believers cannot be free from sin, so even though Jesus said this, most believers ignore what Jesus has done.
