Question 127. How should inferiors show reverence to their superiors?

Answer. The reverence which inferiors owe to their superiors is, by all due reverence, both in word and deed; by prayer and thanksgiving for them; by imitating their virtues; by cheerful obedience to their lawful commands and counsels; by due submission to their discipline; by being loyal to, defending, and supporting their persons and authority, according to their several degrees and the nature of their positions; by bearing with their infirmities, and covering them with love, that they may be a credit to themselves and to their government.

Titus 2:9-10 "Servants be obedient to their masters in all things, to please them well, not to speak against them or steal, but to show all sincerity, so that they may adorn the teaching of God our Savior in all things." Paul gave separate exhortations to the church members: Titus, old men and old women, young men and young women, and servants.

At that time, there was a status of master and servant. A life of obedience to the master without forgetting the status of a servant is to show oneself as a Christian. However, Christians emphasize the fact that they are servants of Jesus. Paul called himself a servant of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As a servant of Jesus Christ, he lived a faithful life of obedience to Gods word and obedience to God in all things.

However, those who are not servants of Christ are servants of Satan. Servants of Satan distort the Word and steal the Word. How many of those who preach the Word in the church today, although they say they are servants of Christ, are distorting the Word of the Bible and disrupting order? They say they are preaching the Gospel, but they are spewing out words of legalism, humanism, and gnosticism.

The saints are servants of Christ. However, when believers forget their status as servants, they fall into the world. The reason Jesus redeemed the saints with the blood of the cross is to free them from sin, to abandon all ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live as the people of God with prudence, righteousness, and godliness, and to display the glory of God the Savior Jesus Christ. Living as the people of God who display the glory of the Lord is also a life of obedience to the word of the Lord.

"Let all true (Agaden) sincerity be manifested." Sincerity is true faith. Agaden means good. True faith is the faith that dies with Jesus and rises with him.

That in all things the doctrine of God our Savior may shine forth. Our Savior refers to the resurrected Jesus Christ. In other words, the resurrected Jesus Christ is God. The doctrine of God means that God Himself was born into this world in the flesh, died on the cross to save sinners, and God bestows the grace of salvation on those who are united with Him. Salvation is the reviving of the dead spirit within man. As 1 Corinthians 15:44 says, the spirit takes off its physical body, puts on a spiritual body, and returns to the kingdom of God. The servants of Christ must convey this doctrine to their neighbors.
