Question 190. What do we pray for in the first petition?

Answer. In the first petition, Hallowed be thy name, we acknowledge the utter inability and unworthiness of all men to honor God rightly, and we pray that God would enable us and others by his grace to understand, know, and highly esteem him, and his offices, attributes, ordinances, word, works, and whatever else he is pleased to make known to us; that we might glorify him in word and deed; that he would prevent and remove atheism, ignorance, idolatry, blasphemy, and whatsoever is profane to him; and that by his providence he would direct and dispose all things to his own glory.

Jesus said, "Our Father in heaven (Uranus), hallowed be your name." Uranus (English heavens) means the kingdom of God in the heart. When used in the plural, it means the kingdom of God of the saints. In the hearts of disciples or saints who have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, there is a temple built in heaven, and God is in it. It is the same concept as the Holy of Holies in the Old Testament.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him; for the temple of God is holy, which temple you are. The Bible says that the Holy Spirit exists, but the Father and Jesus Christ exist together. The Father, Jesus Christ, and the saints become one in the Holy Spirit.

In Hallowed be thy name, Jehovahs name is Jesus. Those who enter into Jesus Christ hallow Jehovahs name, but those who are outside Christ do not hallow Jehovahs name. Only those who died with Jesus and were resurrected with Him are those who are in Jesus Christ.
