Question 65. What special benefits do the members of the invisible church enjoy through Christ?

Answer. The members of the invisible church enjoy union and communion with the Lord in grace and glory through Christ.

Those who are in Christ have the same actions as Christ. First, they die with Jesus and then they are resurrected with him. Romans 6:3-5 Or do you not know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried with him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be united with him in the likeness of his resurrection.

Second, the saints are conceived by the Holy Spirit like Jesus and are born as new creations. The first man, Christ, is the first creation. Colossians 1:16 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. Therefore, those who are in Christ also become new creations with the image of God. The image of God refers to the temple in the soul, and Gods presence is in the temple. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

The third is to ascend with Jesus. Ephesians 2:6 And God raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Fourth, the image of God is restored, a temple is established in the soul, and we meet Jesus there. Colossians 3:10, And you have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created it. When Christ is present in the temple in the soul, the second coming of Jesus has been realized for the saints.

Fifth, the saints reign as priests. 1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for Gods own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Sixth, believers who have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit receive the authority to forgive sins from Jesus. John 20:22-23 "And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained."

Seventh, you are given the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:18 Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
